#30for30- “Do Something”
April 13-14, 2019
#30for30 is an annual event where the student ministry and adult partners come together to help combat hunger in the north Knoxville community. During this event, students go 30 hours without eating (some give up other comforts for health reasons) while competing in food related games, activities, and work projects in order to better understand the position thousands of people face in our community today. The event kicks off a month before with a collection drive of clothes, hygiene products, and food. Students will conduct a canned food drive at local grocery stores, and compete in an Amazing Race/Survivor type competition to see who can win the most points and earn the coveted award: The Golden Spoon. All donations collected over the event will be donated to the Western Heights Baptist Center in North Knoxville to help offset their food and clothing costs as they serve the Western Heights community. The competition runs from Saturday to Sunday for 30 hours and culminates in a spaghetti feast with the winners getting to eat first.
